THE BIRTHPLACE OF COFFEE
Having a name like ours is a constant commitment to the highest levels of quality. Always damn good. We only have specialty coffee scoring 80 points or above on the 100-point Coffee Review Scale.
We have been spending endless tastings and cuppings to find the right selection of coffees. The sweet, the velvet smooth, the chocolaty, the nutty, the fruity. Making us able to cater to all kinds of taste.
We mainly support single-origin roasts. Meaning coffee that is traceable to a single coffee estate or cooperative. This way we get the richness, quality & taste notes of the unique terroir of the area. We have coffee from Colombia, Brazil, Rwanda, Uganda, Mexico, Kenya, Guatemala, and the majority of our coffees from Ethiopia.
We have direct relationships with incredibly talented coffee producers. In Ethiopia, we work with the Impact Trade model together with our business partner Daniel Halala.
Daniel connects the two worlds, so all trade is benefiting the local communities, creating long-lasting positive effects for the communities that grow the beans, creating projects which foster social development, and create jobs in the region. Beans are brought to Denmark directly from small-scale Ethiopian farmers using the minimum involvement of middlemen and no engagement of branch traders or agents.
In this part of Ethiopia, coffee has been cultivated for several centuries, and many of the cultivation methods and subsequent processes are done in the same way today as they did for generations. This means that most plantations are family-run, the coffee is grown without the use of pesticides, and the ripe berries are picked by hand in the barren terrain on the high mountainous slopes.
One of our absolute favorite coffees is a single-origin heirloom from the famous Ethiopian town of Yirgachefe, that produces some of the best coffees in the world. It’s hand-picked and grown at 2000 meters high altitude. It’s a flavourful bean. Smooth-bodied with sweet bright flavors. It has a floral aroma, pronounced fruity notes of both lemon and blueberries, and a classic after taste of nuts and chocolate. It’s a dark roast with a medium body and lower acidity.
