OFFICE CULTURE OF TOMORROW
LAIKA is working with some of the biggest Danish companies like LEGO, Novo Nordisk, and PFA on how to create the ideal spaces and workplace design. We spoke to CEO Lene Becker on how she sees the office culture of tomorrow.
What are the key trends you see, designing innovative offices?
We are seeing a big shift towards more well-defined and considered zones that serve different purposes. Spaces for concentration, collaboration, creativity, meetings, and relations. The shift to more work-from-home makes it even more evident that going to the workplace needs to add value and build the company culture.
What’s the role of coffee in your solutions?
The communal areas. The places that gather people informally are actually some of the most important in the workplace. The coffee machine has become the central nerve in most companies and plays an important part in our proposals.
What defines good office culture for you?
A culture that revolves around a purpose, a bigger why. Build on clear storytelling that inspires the employees, and sets a direction for the work.
How does sustainability influence your work?
All the ways around. From deciding if an environment should upcycle existing furniture and materials, through to recycling things when they are used.
How do you drink your coffee?
I like a café latte. Nothing beats getting into the office in the morning, brewing the first cup. We recently got our machine automatically serving a cup of coffee from fresh beans, and it’s really a treat every day.
Lene and her colleagues drink a delicious coffee from Ethiopia, both fruity and sweet, from notes of blueberries as well as chocolate and nuts.
